How to Make It:

Step 1. Brew the rose tea
Steep rose tea in hot water for 3–5 minutes until fragrant and flavorful.

Step 2. Sweeten it
Add honey to taste while the tea is still warm, stirring until fully dissolved. Set aside to cool slightly.

Step 3. Brew the blue tea
In a separate pot, steep butterfly pea tea and peppermint tea together for about 5 minutes. Strain and set aside.

Step 4. Prepare your glass
Add ice cubes to your cocktail glass. For a Halloween twist, use skull-shaped ice cubes for a spooky touch.

Step 5. Start layering
Pour the sweetened rose tea gently over the ice to create the first layer.

Step 6. Add the blue layer
Slowly pour the butterfly pea–peppermint tea over the back of a spoon to create a delicate layering effect. The two teas will start to react, turning a soft green where they meet.

Step 7. Finish the magic
Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the top – the acidity transforms the upper layer into a brilliant purple.

Step 8. Admire your creation
Watch the colours shift and swirl, creating a mesmerising gradient until the entire drink turns a gorgeous shade of lilac.

Notes & Tips

Experiment with flavour:
You can add a dash of ginger syrup in this Butterfly Pea Flower Halloween Recipe, or swap peppermint for lemongrass for a softer herbal note.

Hosting a party? Since it only takes about a minute for the layers to combine, it’s best to “assemble” the drink in front of your guests or pre-brew the teas separately and let them mix their own potions.

Perfecting the “pour”: In order for the layers to stay apart for as long as possible, you need to slow down the pour. You can do it by pouring the tea over a spoon. Alternatively, if you have big ice cubes, you can also pour directly onto those.
