the art of the hand-tied bulb
Every single flowering tea bulb is an artisanal creation, crafted by hand using skills passed down through generations. Master tea makers take high-quality green tea needles and carefully sew them around dried flowers using food-grade cotton thread.
This process requires incredible precision and patience. The result is a compact heart or pearl shape that hides a secret garden inside, waiting to be revealed by the touch of hot water.
what does flowering tea taste like?
While they are famous for their beauty, our flowering teas are made with a base of premium silver needle green tea, ensuring a taste that is just as refined as the visual.
You can expect a light, delicate, and refreshing green tea base with subtle floral undertones. Depending on the flower inside, you might catch hints of sweet jasmine, fruity hibiscus, or the soft, honey-like notes of lily and chrysanthemum.
how to brew flowering tea
To fully appreciate the “bloom,” we highly recommend using a glass teapot. This allows you to watch the entire transformation from a simple bulb into a beautiful floral arrangement.
Water temperature: 85-90°C (Hot enough to trigger the bloom, but not boiling to avoid bitterness)
Amount: 1 bulb per 400-600ml glass teapot
Steep time: 3-5 minutes (Wait until the flower has fully unfurled)
Infusions: Each bulb can be re-steeped 2-3 times. Simply top up with hot water once you’ve finished your first pot.
the perfect tea gift
Because of their visual spectacle and delicate flavour, flowering teas are the most gifted items in our shop. They transform a simple tea break into a moment of mindful theatre.
Our Flowering Tea Gift Set is a customer favourite, featuring a variety of different blooms. It’s the perfect introduction for someone who loves the aesthetic side of tea or as a unique centerpiece for a special afternoon tea at home.
are there health benefits?
Since the base is high-quality green tea, flowering tea is rich in antioxidants and catechins that support heart health and metabolism.
The addition of flowers like jasmine and lily adds a calming, stress-relieving aromatic quality, making it a wonderful brew for relaxation and mental well-being.
can you eat the flowers?
While the flowers used are food-safe and edible, they are chosen primarily for their appearance and subtle infusion of flavour.
Most people prefer to leave the flower in the glass teapot as a decoration while they drink the tea. Once you are finished drinking, you can even place the flower in a glass of cold water to enjoy its beauty as a temporary floral display!
how should I store flowering tea?
Freshness preserves the colour of the flowers. Store your bulbs in a cool, dark, and dry place.
Our bulbs come individually vacuum-sealed to ensure they stay fresh and the delicate hand-tied structure remains intact until the moment you brew them.
is flowering tea good for beginners?
It is the best “entryway” tea for anyone who thinks tea is boring! The visual performance makes it instantly engaging, and the flavour is mild and approachable.
If you want to experience the magic for yourself, our Flowering Tea Discovery Box offers a curated selection of our most popular blooms, making it easy to start your own ritual of “blooming” mindfulness.
