Lan Gui Ren, translated: The Queen Orchid is grown near the Wuyi Mountains in Fujian Province. This unique blend is the result of pressing liquorice root and ginseng with oolong tea leaves into distinctive jewell like pellets.
🌱 origin: Fujian Province, China
🌱 type: Oolong tea
🌱 flavour: sweet, orchid, ginseng
Oolong teas are semi-oxidised teas and this creates a distinctive chameleon of flavour, shifting across multiple steeps.
Lan Gui Ren is translated as “The Queen Orchid” and originated in Yunnan Province. Now it is more commonly grown in Fujian Province.
Lan Gui Ren is a unique blend of ground ginseng and liquorice grass, compressed with oolong tea leaves. These jewel like pellets result in a wonderful rich orchid aroma with a sweet floral taste.
Lan Gui Ren is included in our oolong wulong box as a unique tablet-like jewel in our plastic free, biodegradable pouches.
Ginseng Oolong, also known as Lan Gui Ren or “Lady Orchid,” is a premium Chinese tea made by tightly rolling high-quality Oolong leaves with powdered ginseng root. The result is a smooth, floral, slightly sweet tea with a distinctive earthy undertone and an invigorating aroma.
Steep 1 teaspoon of Ginseng Oolong in hot water at around 95–100°C for 2–3 minutes. You can re-steep the same leaves multiple times – in fact, the flavour often improves with the second or third infusion.
Lan Gui Ren is valued for its ability to boost energy, improve mental clarity, support metabolism, and aid digestion. It’s often enjoyed as a natural pick-me-up without the jitters of coffee.
Yes, it contains moderate caffeine (30-50mg) from the Oolong base. It provides a smooth energy lift that’s gentler than black tea (40-70mg) or coffee (95-120mg) – ideal for mid-morning or early afternoon focus.
Absolutely! Many tea lovers enjoy it daily for its sustained energy and wellness benefits. However, if you’re sensitive to caffeine or taking certain medications, it’s best to consult a healthcare provider.
People with high blood pressure, hormonal imbalances, or those taking certain medications (like blood thinners or stimulants) should consult a doctor before drinking Ginseng Oolong tea regularly.
It may support metabolism and curb cravings, thanks to both Oolong and Ginseng’s thermogenic and digestive properties – making it a popular tea for weight-conscious drinkers.
The best times are mid-morning or early afternoon, when you need a mental boost or digestive support. It’s best enjoyed between meals and not too late in the evening, due to its natural caffeine content.

This is a lovely light, bright and, refreshing green tea. It tastes slightly sweet, having been steeped in licorice and ginseng, but neither flavour identifies as such. You can resteep the leaves 3 or 4 times. Use water which is cooler than boiling.
