🌱 type: herbal

🌱 origin: Asia

🌱 flavour: earthy, mellow, savoury

🌱 aroma: light, earthy

Ginkgo biloba is a “living fossil,” meaning it’s the sole survivor of its entire plant family. Fossils remarkably similar to the Ginkgo exist from over 170 million years ago!

Cultivated in China and Japan for millennia, Ginkgo trees have graced temple gardens for ages. They’re even resistant to pests and pollution, making them ideal for urban environments.

Ginkgo biloba is rich in flavonoids and terpenoids, which act as antioxidants and may help protect cells from damage.

Ginkgo Biloba Tea FAQs

Ginkgo biloba tea is traditionally used to support memory, concentration, and healthy circulation. It is often chosen for its potential to help with mental clarity and overall cognitive function.

Yes, ginkgo is known for its ability to improve blood flow to the brain, which may help with focus, recall, and mental sharpness. It has been used for centuries to support healthy brain function.

Many people enjoy ginkgo tea daily in moderate amounts, but it is important to check with a healthcare professional first, especially if you are taking medication or have a medical condition.

Those who are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking blood thinning medication, or preparing for surgery should avoid ginkgo unless advised by a doctor. People with certain heart or bleeding disorders should also take caution.

Ginkgo does not contain caffeine, but many people report feeling more alert and energised due to improved circulation and oxygen flow to the brain.

Some people notice subtle effects within a few days, but it often takes a few weeks of regular use to experience the full benefits for memory and focus.

Ginkgo tea is best taken in the morning or early afternoon to support daytime focus and avoid the possibility of it interfering with rest for sensitive individuals.

While generally well tolerated, ginkgo can cause mild side effects in some people such as headaches, dizziness, or stomach upset. It can also interact with certain medicines.

I really like this Ginkgo Bilboa by teapro - the flavour is subtle with a hint of earthiness. I think it's also really cool that they don't cut the leaves too small, so you can still make out the beautiful shape of the leaves. (I brew it in my glass teapot and seeing the beautiful leaves really adds to the experience)
I would recommend to brew a generous portion and also steep it for a bit longer to taste the flavour better. I notice when I drink it at work, it really helps me with focus. Will be buying more soon!
