dragon well
From the mountains around Xihu, (West) Lake, near the temple of Long Jing (Dragon Well), this world famous green tea is the one that compelled us to start our tea journey many moons ago and still delivers for us a harmony of sweet, mellow and grassy aromas and a visually beautiful shape.

gyokuro
Gyokuro translates as “jade dew” and is made from the earliest spring flush leaves. Grown in the shade, this tea is harvested by way of “tana” a traditional Japanese method of tea production involving straw coverings. The shade boost theanine and caffeine whilst decreasing catechins that characterise bitter green teas. Smooth blossom aromas meet a delicate seaweed and steamed green finish.
Green tea is rich in antioxidants like catechins and EGCG, which support heart health, improve brain function, aid weight loss, and help reduce inflammation. It may also lower the risk of chronic diseases and promote healthy skin and aging.
Yes, drinking green tea daily is generally safe and beneficial for most people. 1–3 cups a day can support metabolism, energy, and immunity. However, if you’re sensitive to caffeine or have medical conditions, it’s best to consult a doctor.
The ideal times are mid-morning or early afternoon-after a meal-for better absorption and energy. Avoid drinking it on an empty stomach or late at night, as it may irritate your stomach or disrupt sleep.
Yes, green tea can support fat burning and metabolic rate thanks to its natural caffeine and catechins. While not a miracle solution, it complements a healthy diet and active lifestyle for gradual, sustainable weight loss.
Absolutely. Green tea’s antioxidants help protect the liver, promote kidney function, and support healthy cholesterol levels. It’s also linked to improved circulation and reduced risk of heart disease.
Chinese green teas (like Dragon Well and Clouds & Mist) are usually pan-fired for a nutty, roasted flavour. Japanese teas (like Sencha and Matcha) are steamed, resulting in a more grassy, umami-rich profile. Both offer distinct health benefits and traditions.
People with caffeine sensitivity, iron deficiency, or certain heart, kidney, or stomach conditions should limit or avoid green tea. It’s also not recommended for children, pregnant women (unless approved by a doctor), or people on specific medications.
Use 70–80°C (160–175°F) water and steep for 1–3 minutes. Avoid boiling water, as it can destroy antioxidants and cause bitterness. Don’t add milk – stick to pure or lightly flavoured versions for best results.
Look for organic, shade-grown, whole-leaf teas like Japanese Matcha, Sencha, or Chinese Longjing (Dragon Well). These retain the highest levels of antioxidants. Avoid overly processed varieties (often found in supermarket teabags) or artificially flavoured green teas.
In China, green tea is often served plain in glass or porcelain cups, enjoyed slowly during meals or social gatherings. In Japan, tea preparation is a ceremonial art – especially with Matcha – and usually consumed without milk or sugar, honouring purity and mindfulness.
Purchased as a fathers day gift and was really well received. Orginally purchased as my dad loves Dragon Well, but I wanted to get him some other teas to explore. This gift box gave a really good overview and was delivered quickly and promptly. Loved the additional information received alongside including tea origin and optimum stew times. Would 100% recommend as a purchase for a gift for anyone who is interested in exploring teas!

I always drink green tea from bags but never tried loose tea before. This box was a surprise gift and I liked it very much. The dragon well was soft and fresh. Now I want to learn more.

You can really taste the difference in these teas. The clouds & mist had such a soft, calming flavour, while Long Jing is much more toasty and nutty. I’ve been drinking them in the afternoon as a little break in my day.
