what makes Guangxi jasmine tea so special?
Guangxi’s warm, subtropical climate and fertile river valleys create ideal growing conditions for both the Camellia sinensis tea plant and the jasmine flowers that define the region’s most celebrated teas.
The traditional jasmine scenting process is a labour of extraordinary care – tea leaves are repeatedly layered with freshly harvested jasmine blossoms at night, when the flowers release their fragrance most intensely. The spent flowers are removed each morning and replaced with fresh ones, a cycle repeated multiple times for the finest grades. The result is a tea that carries the living scent of jasmine, not an artificial flavouring – clean, floral, and deeply aromatic.
what does Guangxi tea taste like?
Our Guangxi teas are green teas at their heart – smooth, fresh, and gently vegetal – transformed by jasmine into something altogether more perfumed and complex.
The Ya’an Snowfall Jasmine is delicate and ethereal, with a cool, clean floral note that lingers beautifully in the cup. The Supreme Phoenix Eye Jasmine is richer and more intense — hand-rolled pearls of the highest grade that unfurl slowly, releasing wave after wave of fragrance with each infusion.
Both are exceptionally smooth, naturally sweet, and entirely free of bitterness when brewed correctly.
how to brew Guangxi jasmine tea
Jasmine green teas are sensitive to heat – lower temperatures preserve the delicate floral fragrance and prevent any bitterness in the cup.
Water temperature: 75-80°C
Amount: 2-3g per 350ml
Steep time: 1-2 minutes
Infusions: Both teas reward multiple re-steeps – the Phoenix Eye pearls in particular reveal new layers of jasmine fragrance across three or four infusions.
is Guangxi jasmine tea caffeinated?
Yes. As green teas, both Guangxi varieties contain a moderate level of caffeine – typically 25-40mg per cup – balanced by L-Theanine, which promotes calm, focused energy without the jitters associated with coffee.
They make a wonderfully uplifting morning or mid-afternoon cup – aromatic, grounding, and gently energising.
what are the health benefits?
Guangxi jasmine green teas combine the well-documented health properties of green tea with the calming, mood-lifting qualities of jasmine. Green tea is rich in EGCG, a powerful antioxidant linked to heart health, metabolism, and cognitive function.
Jasmine itself is widely used in traditional Chinese medicine for its calming and anti-inflammatory properties, making these teas as soothing to drink as they are to smell.

can you cold brew Guangxi jasmine tea?
Absolutely – and it’s one of the most beautiful ways to enjoy these teas. Cold brewing draws out the jasmine fragrance and natural sweetness of the green tea base, with none of the bitterness that over-brewing with hot water can create.
Add 3-4g of tea to 500ml of cold water and steep in the fridge for 4-6 hours.
Served over ice, both the Ya’an Snowfall and Phoenix Eye are exceptionally delicious – refreshing, floral, and naturally sweet.
how should I store Guangxi jasmine tea?
Freshness is essential for preserving the jasmine fragrance. Store in a cool, dark, airtight container away from moisture, heat, and strong odours.
Jasmine green teas are best enjoyed within 6-12 months of production to experience their fragrance at its most vivid and true.
is Guangxi jasmine tea good for beginners?
It’s one of the most welcoming entry points into the world of Chinese tea. The jasmine fragrance is immediately familiar and deeply appealing, while the green tea base is smooth and naturally sweet – nothing sharp, nothing astringent.
If you’ve ever enjoyed jasmine tea in a Chinese restaurant and wondered what the finest version of that experience could be, our Guangxi Black Label teas are exactly the answer.
